Featured in this lot is this Maricopa Pueblo Indian "Black on Red" pottery, circa 1930's. There are two pots in this collection. Pueblo pottery is made using a coiled technique that came into northern Arizona and New Mexico from the south about 1500 years ago. In the four-corners region of the US, nineteen pueblos and villages have historically produced pottery. Although each of these pueblos uses similar traditional methods of coiling, shaping, finishing, and firing, the pottery from each is distinctive. The condition of these pots is good, with a slight fissure in the taller pot. The measurements of these pottery vessels are 3 1/4" x 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" and 2 1/4" x 4 3/4".
