Included in this lot we have a hand made Afghan grain chest with carved horse head figures originating from the 19th century. The chest shows wonderful wooden construction turned legs, brass accents, and a metal latch. The front of the chest features two hand carved horse head figures, one to each side with the heads extending out the front. The brass accents show repeating geometric patterns with square tacks on top and sides. The chests interior shows a single storage compartment painted a rust red matching the more faded color of the exterior. The piece shows good condition overall with some wear across the exterior indicative of age. It measures 18 1/4" wide by 9 1/4 (13" counting the horse heads) and 17" tall.
