A claim shanty is a cabin built hastily on a land claim to legalize possession of the land and provide shelter. The photograph is of a cowboy on a horse carrying a Winchester lever action rifle. This photo is mounted on a cardboard back and is in good condition for its age. It measures approximately 6.5” x 5.5”. The final photo is undated, but shows fourteen men working with horses and pigs at a "Great Falls Ranch-Bowdoin, Mont" written on the back. This boudoir card measures 8 1/2" x 5 1/4" and is in good condition for its age.
