The lot features a 19th-century touchmarked blacksmith rasp file forged into an American Indian Dag Knife. The blade is touchmarked / hallmarked, "AD" inside a rectangle box, with classic early to mid-1800's pattern letters, likely English. The blade is forged into a classic beaver back or beaver tail dag knife pattern using an old Blacksmith rasp file. There is a double edge with the thicker body still showing some of the cross-hatching from the original rasp file pattern. The piece is set into a solid wood handle with deep original patina. The piece is said to be from the Northern Plains, likely Sioux by a previous collector. Measures overall 15-inches long with the blade being 8-inches long by 2.5-inches wide.
