Featured in this lot is this 1st edition copy of, "The Dreadful River Cave" by James Willard Schultz from 1920. J. W. Schultz (1859–1947) was an author, explorer, and historian known for his historical writings of the Blackfoot Indians in the late 1800s, when he lived among them as a fur trader. Schultz lived in Browning, Montana, headquarters for the Blackfeet Indian Reservation. "The Dreadful River Cave," originally published in 1920, tells the story of a young, brave, Black Elk, and his exciting adventures centering about a mysterious cave behind a water-fall. Like Mr. Schultz's other books, this story deals with real live Indians, not book Indians, and has plenty of action and interesting Indian lore. The book shows good condition for its age with some wear to the edges and corners of the front and back cover. The interior pages are in good condition as well with no signs of tears or foxing present. The book measures 8" L x 5 1/4" W x 1" D.
