Offered in this lot is a First Edition of "The Great Sioux Nation" by Fred Hans, 1907, M. A. Donohue and Company publishers, 250 illustrations. "The Great Sioux Nation: A Complete History Of Indian Life And Warfare In America, The Indians As Nature Made Them" is a historical book written by Frederic Malon Hans (1861-1923) in 1907. The book provides a comprehensive account of the Great Sioux Nation, a Native American tribe that resided in the Great Plains of North America. The author describes the Sioux way of life, their customs, beliefs, and traditions, as well as their conflicts and wars with other tribes and the United States government.Hans provides a detailed analysis of the Sioux's relationship with nature and how it influenced their way of life. He also delves into the Sioux's spiritual beliefs and how they viewed the world around them. The book provides a comprehensive overview of the Sioux's history, from their origins to their interactions with European settlers and the eventual decline of their culture. The red cloth bound stamped illustrated hardcover is in fair condition overall with scuffing and fading observed on covers and spine, spine split at hinge. Intact pages exhibit age tanning throughout, loose binding. Measures 5.75"W x 8.75"L x 1.25"D, weight is 2lb, 2oz.
