Featured in this lot is this African Cameroon Mambila iron hoe currency circa 20th century. The hoe currency is wonderfully and professionally crafted iron construction that is forged with a spade look to it and a sharpened arch with clip sides and a turkey tail tang. The Mambila (Mambilla) are an agricultural people living on a plateau straddling the Cameroon/Nigerian border in Africa. In 1959, the first Mambila artifacts came to the Milwaukee Public Museum (MPM). The condition of this Mambila hoe currency is preserved with wear and oxidation to the hoe but otherwise shows a preserved overall condition. The measurements of this Mambila hoe currency is 7" x 5 1/4" x 1/2". The collective weight of this Mambila hoe currency is 8oz. The artifact shows a museum or artifact number written on it '2008.5.2853 B'.
