The lot features a ledger “Draught” of sale from circa 1878 for a parcel of land in Lurgan Township, Franklin County, Pennsylvania with original Plains Indian Ledger Art Drawings. The paperwork is for is for a “Draught of a track of land situate in Lurgan Township, Franklin Country, Pa…. January 22, 1878” between Benjamin F. Sleichter and James C. Burkholder. When completely folded out the piece is hand drawn with pencil and colored pencil with a Plains Native American Indian scene including a war horse with riding blanket, the horse being painted blue, in front of a lodge / tipi with additional imagery including a sun, shield, lance spear, meat drying rack and a bird. There is a snake in the bottom left corner, likely a signature which has been seen on other pieces from this collection. The piece is from the same collection as the Blemmingham Ledger book collection, the very same as the 1890-1891 Buffalo Kill Ledger sold in 2022 by NAAC for $2,016 and the Ca. 1903- Plains Indian Ledger Art Land Deed piece that sold at our auction in 2024 for $3,276 (shown w/ bp). The original deed / draught dates to circa 1878, the artwork appears to be of an older age but exact age is unknown. The document measures 13 7/8”L by 8.5”W when laid out (and 2 7/8” by 7” when folded up).
