Featured in this lot is "A Gentleman's Foursome" by Arnold Friberg, 1994, Signed, framed lithograph, limited edition 401/1500. "A Gentlemen's Foursome" depicts a game of pool played between two cowboys, an American and a Mexican, both still seated on their horses inside a crowded saloon with a variety of characters watching from the sides. The painting is the third and final entry in Friberg's "Saloon " series, the others being, Winners and Losers" and "Mind if I Join You". The painting is known for its intense realism and detail, showing a variety of characters watching the horseback billiards match in a saloon setting. Arnold Friberg (1913-2010) was a renowned American illustrator and painter who was known for his Religious, Patriotic, and Western works such as his 1975 painting, "The Prayer at Valley Forge", a depiction of George Washington praying at Valley Forge; "Dinner Companions", and "Puffing Billy". Because of his work creating nearly 300 images of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, he was also commissioned by the British Royal family for paintings of Queen Elizabeth II and the Prince of Wales. Both were painted at Buckingham Palace. The limited edition, 401/1500, is numbered on the bottom left corner and hand signed by the artist, with the signature located at the bottom right corner right above his stamped signature. The piece shows great detail and wonderful colour for this rare Limited edition lithograph. It comes with a Certificate of Authenticity in a folder on the back of the painting. The professionally mounted lithograph is in very nice condition, no marring noted. The double matted Burl wood frame is in very nice condition, slight edging noted on edges. Visible art measures 18.25"W x 32.75"L, frame is 26.125"W x 41"L x 1"D, weight is 11lb, 8oz.
