Featured in this lot is this 1950 First Edition of, "Across the River and into the Trees" by Ernest Hemingway, published by Charles Scribner's Sons in New York circa 1950. The novel, set in post-World War II Venice, tells the narrative of Colonel Richard Cantwell, an aged American veteran who is reflecting on his life, combat experiences, and relationships, particularly with a young Italian woman named Renata. The work delves into issues of love, honor, mortality, and the impact of war on individuals. It is renowned for its contemplative narrative style and moving depiction of the human condition. It is bound in a black hard cover and shows the artists name on the front in gold gilt lettering. The spine shows the title, the author and the publishers in faded gold gilt lettering as well. Overall the book shows good condition with wear present from its age and use over the years but no signs of obvious damage is noted. The book measures 8 3/8" L x 5 7/8" W x 1" D and weighs 1 pound.
