For your consideration are seven original photos and real photo postcards of various actresses and entertainers from the 1890s-1900s. The first is a small cigarette collector card from Sweet Caporal and shows Sadie Martinot, an American actress and soprano singer who performed on stage in dramas, musical comedy and comic opera. Her career began at the age fifteen as Cupid in Ixion; or, the Man at the Wheel and, but for a few years absence, she remained active on stage in America and abroad until 1908. The second photo is of Miss Ramie Austen, a prominent actress who was starring in the new play, "Guilty Without Crime". The third photo shows Carrie Perkins, another actress staring in various plays such as "Jack and the Beanstalk" (1898), "Hotel Topsy Turvey" (1899) "The Casino Girl" (1901), "Sargent Kitty" (1903), Edward Rice's "The Merry Shop Girl's" (1905), "A Broken Idol" (1909), winding up with Julian Eltinge's 1911 tour of "The Fascinating Widow". The fourth photo shows an unnamed woman in a promiscuous outfit posing for a photo in a studio. She has black hair, combed into a large afro style. The fifth photo shows another unnamed woman but is titled, "Feeding the Doves". She is in a white dress and holds the bottom above her knees as doves feed below her on the ground. The sixth photo shows Maude Harrison, another prominent actress in the late 1870s to early 1900s, staring in five Broadway plays: “Pink Dominos” (1877), “French Flats” (1880), and “Naughty Anthony” (1900). The seventh and final photo is a real photo postcard and shows American actress Lillian Russell. Lillian Russell was an American actress and singer born in Clinton, Iowa and raised in Chicago, Illinois. She became one of the most famous actresses and singers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, praised for her beauty and style, as well as for her voice and stage presence. These photos show good condition overall with slight wear present from their age and use over the years, but no signs of damage is noted.
