In this lot is an African hand carved wooden wall art piece. The piece shows a mother with a baby swaddled on her back. The woman has her finger to her lips in the universal gesture for quiet, as the baby is sleeping. Balanced on the woman's head is a basket. The woman's head and hair are stylized to an elongated style, as was seen in central Africa in the Northeast Congo area. This piece is in good condition and made from a single piece of wood.
