The piece is a small-scale, standalone reproduction of the larger Centennial Statue, a public monument commissioned in 2006 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Coshocton County District Library in Ohio. Each book in the stack represents one year the library was in operation between its opening in 1904 and its centennial in 2004. Alan Cottrill is an American sculptor and entrepreneur who created the statue of Thomas Edison, on display in the United States Capitol's National Statuary Hall, and Don Colossus, a 15-foot bronze statue of Donald Trump.
