Featured in this lot is this Alaskan Kodiak bear trophy full rug. The rug features a canvas double felted back, thick fur, and impressive head. The bear shows all of the original claws. The rug was professionally prepared by a taxidermist. The rug shows good condition, with little to no wear. The fur shows excellent preservation and soft features. The Kodiak bear, also known as the Kodiak brown bear and sometimes the "Alaskan brown bear", inhabits the islands of the Kodiak Archipelago in southwest Alaska. It is the largest recognized subspecies or population of the brown bear and one of the two largest bears alive today, the other being the polar bear. The condition of this bear hide is pristine, with no obvious signs of damage. This is one of the best bear hides, if not the best bear hide, to come through our auction. The measurements of this Kodiak bear hide are 98" x 75".
