This is an iconic, heavy and large sterling silver and Sleeping Beauty Turquoise squash blossom necklace and earring set with an amazing design from award winning, third generation master silversmith, Navajo/ Dine artist, Alex Sanchez. Alex Sanchez was born in Mexican Springs, NM in 1969, and was inspired and taught silversmithing by his brother Myron Panteah. Alex Sanchez, Navajo is part of the Water Edge Clan and Zuni Clan. Petroglyph designs such as animal, human and spirit symbols are the cornerstone of his work created with heavy gauge sterling silver reflecting both contemporary and traditional totemic designs (feat. Medicine Man Gallery). This example is nicely hallmark signed Alex Sanchez Sterling and shows a heavy sterling silver handmade, one-of-a-kind design with large squash blossom naja showing crosses, human hands, spots and spirals along with a gem quality Sleeping Beauty oblong polished cabochon of Turquoise. The strand also shows eight large rectangular blossom pendants showing such classic designs as dragonflies, crosses, spirals, other bugs, spots, and bears with each being set with more gem quality Sleeping Beauty Turquoise polished cabochons. The necklace strand is sterling silver chain link with a double strand of polished Navajo pearl concho / concha beads with sterling tube and sterling clasp. The earrings have the same design in sterling silver also with Sleeping Beauty Turquoise. Truly an amazing work of art set that is the only exactly of its kind. The necklace measures 27.5”L, the squash is 3 1/8” by 2.75”W, each earring is 1”L. Total weight of 231.7 grams.
