For your consideration is this American Black Duck decoys circa mid 1900's. The ducks shows decoration of American Black Ducks with a lighter back to the hand carved decoy and the functional decoy shows a lighter spot on the back as well. The American Black Duck hides in plain sight in shallow wetlands of eastern North America. They often flock with the ubiquitous Mallard, where they look quite similar to female Mallards. The condition of these decoys range from fair to the smaller decoy with wear consistent with usage and age with some scuff marks to the paint on the softwood frame and the second is in good display condition to this hand carved and textured duck decoy. The measurements of this pair of decoys are 5 1/2" x 5" x 11 1/2" to 5" x 5" x 11".
