For your consideration is a pair of Papago Indian hand woven baskets. The Papago Tohono O'odham (People of the Desert), are located in Arizona and are known for their weaving skill. The first basket is a newer piece and portrays a five pointed star design and black devil's claw rim stitching. This piece is newer, circa 1950s. The second basket shows geometric designs around the sides and darker coils. This basket is an older piece, circa 1930s. Both pieces have a nice tight weaving of yucca and bear grass in very well-preserved condition. The condition of these baskets are good showing no deficiencies in the weave or in the integrity of the baskets themselves; showing no obvious signs of damage. The first basket measures 10" by 4 1/4". The second basket measures 11 1/2" by 5".
