This is a finely carved wood large spoon or ladle from the Native American Indians dating to circa early to mid-1800’s. The piece shows a large long spoon with slightly curved handle, inward curved end and wonderful tear drop shaped spoon body. The spoon head was carved with the tip starting at the center of the growth rings, giving an amazing wave like appearance of the grain. The piece is all hand hewn, carved and scrapped and has a nice used patina from age. Provenance: From a large American Indian collection in Billings, Montana. Measures 20.75”L by 3.75”W by 2”D.
