Offered in this lot is a very fine ancient Birdstone. This Birdstone is attributed to the Cahokia (Illinois) Middle Mississippi period. This banded slate Birdstone represents one of the short body styles. Most Birdstones were made of banded slate. This Birdstone has a flat bottom. Birdstones are quite rare. This Birdstone came from the Mark Hailey Collection in Billings, Montana. This Birdstone measures 3" x 3/4" and is in very good condition.
