Featured in this lot we have a ancient Japanese bronze spear or dagger head originating from the Yayoi Period. The Yayoi period is Japans iron age that was sparked by metallurgy techniques coming to Japan from China through Korea. The Yayoi period is considered to have been from between 300 BC till around 300 AD and spanned the majority of Japan. The spear head shows a narrow and angled double edged blade with a short tang at the bottom. The blade is covered in oxidization turning the bronze a green color. The piece comes in a light wooden box and shows a tag translating roughly to "Fukuoka Prefecture Out side of Town". The blade shows good condition for its age with some dents and chips in the front portion of the blade. The blade measures 8 1/2" long with the case measuring 11 1/2" long by 3" wide.
