Offered in this lot is an Antique Western Electric Wall Hung Telephone, circa 1950s to early 1960s. This rotary dial wall mount telephone was a match to the Western Electric model 550 desk set. Model 554 with a metal finger wheel, Bakelite housing. Handset is same as for the model 550. The Western Electric 554 was a popular rotary wall telephone, known for its sturdy construction, colorful options (though often Bakelite/plastic), and long service life, becoming a household staple for decades before modular jacks and push-button phones replaced them. Introduced in the 1950s, the model 554 represents a significant era in American telephony—the transition from party-line black phones to personalized, colorful, and functional home communication devices, making them beloved collector's items today. This rotary telephone is in good preserved condition, scratches consistent with age and use. Measures 5"W x 9.5"L x 5.5"D, weight is 4lb, 12oz.
