Presented in this lot are Antique and Vintage Yellowstone, Yosemite and Santa Fe Guide Books (3), 1920-1945. The scarce 1928 "Haynes New Guide and Motorists' Complete Road Log of Yellowstone National Park" by J. E. Haynes, official photographer of Yellowstone Park. Approved by the National Park Service, the guide contains more than 100 maps, photographs, illustrations and diagrams. Fold-out map inside the back cover. The Rare "Guide to Yosemite A Handbook of the Trails and Roads of Yosemite Valley and the Adjacent Region", 1920, by Ansel F. Hall, is a seminal pocket-sized handbook that served as a practical companion for early 20th-century visitors exploring the trails and roads of Yosemite National Park. Hall, who served as Yosemite's first park naturalist from 1920 to 1923, designed the guide to provide detailed, on-the-trail information that would typically be provided by a professional hired guide. Includes comprehensive details on trail conditions, time required for trips, fishing spots, and available camp sites. Features discussions on the origin of the valley, contrasting early theories (like those of Josiah Whitney) with the then-emerging glaciation theory supported by Dr. F. E. Matthes. This original 98-page edition included three essential maps: an "aeroplane view" of valley features, a map of Yosemite Village, and a contour map of the surrounding region. Lastly is a Rare Original "Santa Fe Guide Book", 1945, published by the Santa Fe New Mexican newspaper is a 68-page historical artifact that served as a visitor's guide and hotel directory during the final year of World War II. It includes sections on the city's signature adobe architecture, the Palace of the Governors, and the local arts scene, mentions the local Japanese Detention Camp (internment camp) and the political climate of the era, has vintage advertisements for local businesses including the Fred Harvey Hotel "La Fonda", "long gone tourist traps," and details on events like rodeos, and provides information on surrounding Native American pueblos, ceremonies, and Spanish colonial history. Each book is in niely preserved condition, age tanning and foxing noted. Respective measurements are 5"W x 7"L, 3.875"W x 6.375"L, and 5.5"W x 8.125"L. Collective weight is 14oz.
