For your consideration is a Full Body Florida Alligator Taxidermy, 98" long, circa 2007. Provenance: The Estate of a life-long big and small game Michigan hunter and sportsman, collected during world-wide hunting excursions. The full body mount features a wonderfully and professionally crafted taxidermy construction. The mount is complete with the head, skin, legs, tail, and hide segmented to complete the full body appearance. The alligator taxidermy process takes up to 11 months, with tanning taking up to six months, resulting in either a full-body mount, rug, or leather goods. The American alligator is a keystone species and the official state reptile of Florida. With an estimated population of 1.3 million, they inhabit all 67 counties and virtually every freshwater body in the state. American crocodiles and alligators differ primarily in snout shape, habitat, and color. American crocodiles have narrow, V-shaped snouts, are lighter/olive-grey in color, and prefer coastal, saltwater areas. American alligators have broad, U-shaped snouts, are dark/black in color, and prefer freshwater, although both can live in both. The condition of this full body alligator is well preserved with no obvious signs of damage to the taxidermy and in well preserved overall condition.
