Offered in this lot is an Astronaut Jim Irwin Moon Landing NASA Colour Lithograph, Signed. The lithograph is signed, "His Love From The Moon" and additionally is inscribed in black felt ink, "To Norvin and Charlotte Jim Irwin". The image depicts Irwin standing in a full length pose on the moon's surface as he salutes the United States flag at the Hadley-Apennine landing site. James Benson Irwin (1930-1991) was an American astronaut, aeronautical engineer, test pilot, and a United States Air Force pilot. He served as Lunar Module pilot for Apollo 15, the fourth human lunar landing. He was the eighth person to walk on the Moon. The Apollo mission, "J-Mission", was more science-based than previous missions, which meant that astronauts Jim irwin and David Scott, received intensive geological training to meet the demanding nature of the J-Mission profile. This extra training is credited with allowing them to make one of the most important discoveries of the Apollo era, the Genesis Rock. Lithograph is in good overall condition with slight surface wear, creasing and foxing. Measures 8"W x 10"L.
