Included in this lot is an Original Baker, Montana Police Department Wood Sign, circa 1960s-1980s. Baker is a city in and the county seat of Fallon County, Montana in southeast Montana. Named after A. G. Baker, an engineer with the Chicago, Milwaukie, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad, Baker was built in 1908 along the transcontinental rail line of the Milwaukie Road near where the railroad created a lake to supply water to its steam locomotives; U. S. Route 12 passes through town from east to west. The front face and edges of this solid wood sign are painted black, the face featured a large six-point star in the middle with smaller stars in each corner, all painted white. Painted white lettering in the center star is, "POLICE DEPT. 778-2151 BAKER MONT." Clockwise from the upper left the corner stars have painted white lettering, "CHIEF W. J. Ware", "SGT. B. R. DAHLMAN", "OFFICER E. L. McCANTS", and, "OFFICER R. G. BUBLITZ". The sign has holes in each corner for hanging. Sign is in good overall condition, normal age related wear noted.
