Presented in this lot is the First Edition of, "Bits & Spurs: Motifs, Techniques, and Modern Makers" by Ned and Jody Martin. From the dust jacket, "Since the fine antique bits and spurs of a century ago are scarse, there is a growing interest in pieces made by modern makers. 123 contemporary markers are featured in this book, with over 900 stunning colour photographs of their work...", and includes descriptions and images of motifs and techniques used in building and embellishing these pieces over many centuries. Also from the dust jacket, "There is an extensive chapter on design motifs utilized over the centuries with myriad images of the wide variety of animals, birds, insects, flowers, geometric designs, human figures and cowboy motifs used to decorate bits and spurs." This is a beautifully illustrated book in near new condition, very slight scuffing noted to both dust jacket and cover edges, no other marring noted, colour photographs paper over boards, 303 pp., colorful cattle drive scene on the front and rear endpapers, measurements are 10.5"W x 11.5"L x 1"D
