For your consideration is this beautiful, painted steer skull done by the Blackfeet Tribe circa 1960-70s. The skull has been painted with a black base and shows colors of red, white, blue and yellow throughout, colors sacred to the Blackfeet tribe. The forehead shows a geometric design, thought to be depicting beadwork, in colors of white, blue and red. Three red triangles point to the right and three point to the left, outlined by blue lines and surrounded by blue and white stripes. The horns have been painted white and exhibit a red painted base and red tips. Throughout the top half of the steer skull are yellow circles against the black background. The eyes have been painted white and lined with a red line and yellow triangles depicting a sun shape. The nose and mouth have been painted in stripe designs showing alternating colors of white, blue and red. The steer skull shows good condition overall with slight wear present from its age and handling over the years, but no signs of obvious damage is present. The skull measures 17 1/4" L x 28 1/4" W x 9 5/8" H and weighs 10 pounds and 6 ounces.
