For your bidding pleasure is this Blackfoot Confederacy Pendleton Blanket Papoose. the Confederacy had a territory that stretched from the North Saskatchewan River along what is now Alberta, Canada to the Yellowstone River of Montana in the United States. being a originally nomadic people it was important to have a method for transporting children. The papoose is a cradle board used to fasten children tight to make ready for travel. This papoose, from the mid 20th century is a board wrapped in a pendelton blanket with tribal markings and designs with a small pillow towards the top for comfort and strings stitched freely down the front of the papoose. The Pendelton blanket has a brown field with lime green and different shades of purple with reds and blacks to frame the color designs. The measurements of this cradle board is 33" x 15 1/2".
