Featured in this lot is this Bridgeport Brass Company "Search Light" kerosene / oil bike lamp from the late 1890s. The Bridgeport Brass Company, founded in 1865 in Bridgeport, Connecticut, by Daniel W. Kissam, John Davol, and Samuel R. Wilmot, specialized in processing brass and copper into wire, tubing, and sheeting, and manufacturing finished brass and copper products like lamps and clock movements, and later expanded into other products. This bike lamp features a full brass construction and features a bike bar connector on the back. A small knob can be turned and taken off to refill the kerosene chamber, while another knob would change the height of the wick inside the lamp. The sides are adorned with a red and green cut jewel to provide a small amount of light for the sides of the lamp so it can be seen. The top is marked with the model name reading, "Search Light". The interior is marked as well reading, "Watch Glass No. 16". The lamp shows good condition overall with wear present from its age and use over the years but no signs of major damage is noted. A nice patina has formed on the brass from its age, giving it a nice, aged looked. It measures 5 5/8" L x 4 1/2" W x 5 1/8" H and weighs 15 ounces. Provenance: From the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum in Tombstone, Arizona.
