The lot features a circa 1860-1870 Perrins & Son, Worcester British double-action revolver with paperwork attributing the gun to General George Armstrong Custer and Catch The Bear a Hunkpapa Sioux. The revolver is engraved atop, "PERRINS & SON / WORCESTER" and shows Birmingham proof marks, G (A C) and 7 on the cylinder and supposedly "G.A. Custer" on the frame. The revolver is a double action with walnut grips and silver like finish in working order. The estate collection the gun is from notes this as being one of the guns gifted to George Armstonrg Custer when on a Buffalo Hunt in 1869 by British sportsman Lord Berkeley Paget, the hunt being near Fort Hayes, KS, noted as giving George Custer and Tom Custer three British pistols. Later in Custer's life it is noted in history that he owned at least a pair of silver nickel plated British pistols with ivory grips and in a famous photograph of Custer's residence at Fort Lincoln a collections of firearms is photographed. There have been other British Bull Dog like nickel pistols attributed to George A. Custer previously as well. This comes accompanied by paperwork with photographs of the markings with a signed letter which notes this as being marked by G.A. Custer and from Catch The Bear, a Kiglaska Hunkpapa Sioux Chief born in 1846 and died protecting Sitting Bull in 1890. Also noted in the paperwork is testimony taken directly from David Bald Eagle, grandson of White Bull, Sitting Bull's nephew; noting a little shiny revolver being a part of the Sitting Bull family collection. The paperwork will be included with the gun. Antique Firearm NO FFL required.
