Presented in this lot is this Vintage Karastan Kirman Worsted Wool Rug, circa Mid-century. Provenance: From an ex-Boston area estate collection. Karastan rugs are a brand of high-quality, machine-made rugs known for their intricate, Indo-Persian inspired designs, made from premium materials like New Zealand wool or durable synthetics. The brand was created in 1928 and was known for using advanced looms to create machine-made rugs that rivaled the quality of handcrafted ones, making them accessible to a wider market. Karastan is recognized for pioneering power-loom technology, allowing for intricate patterns, and continues to be a respected brand synonymous with long-lasting, luxurious rugs. The ancient province of Kirman is famous for producing some of the worlds most elegant and refined oriental carpets. Kirman was known as a creative mecca, where designs were conceived and woven by masters of the art. This beautiful Kirman design wool rug features inter-locking panels of geometric and floral designs in luxurious colours of periwinkle blue, dark blue, red, pink, green and purple.
