Featured in this lot is this silver gelatin publicity photograph of Buck Jones, born in 1891 and died in 1942; with the photograph dated to 1931. The photograph features a wonderfully and professionally crafted silver gelatin construction that shows Buck Jones with his trusty stead leaning on a fence for a promotional photograph for the movie, "Sandflow". Buck Jones (born Charles Frederick Gebhart; 1891–1942) was a popular American cowboy actor, producer, and screenwriter who rose to fame during the silent film era and successfully transitioned into talkies. Known for his rugged charm, horsemanship, and authentic Western persona, Jones starred in over 160 films, becoming one of the most beloved stars of B-Western cinema in the 1930s. One of his notable roles was in the 1937 film Sandflow, where he played Buck Hallett, a man caught in a web of frontier justice and betrayal. Jones's performance in Sandflow showcased his characteristic stoicism and moral strength, further cementing his legacy as a heroic figure of classic Western film. The condition of this of this silver gelatin photograph is well preserved with no obvious signs of damage and shows a well preserved overall condition. The measurements of this silver gelatin is 20 3/4" x 23 1/2" and the visible artwork measures 6 5/8" x 9". The collective weight of this silver gelatin photograph is 6lb 6oz.
