Malm, D.V.M. is an ullustrated collector’s guide to identification and classification of bridle bits with pricing; this is a first edition limited to 3,000 copies from circa 1975. The book is one of the best collector guide books for bits showing Ring Bits, Spanish Bits, Ornate Bits, Silver Mounted Bits, Military Bits, Control Bits, English Bits, Ornamental Bits and more totaling 861 photo examples with info and collector price guide. Next is titled on the front “Star Brand Illustrated Catalougue No. 35” which is the most complete line of saddlery hardware Cowboy, Riding, Polo, Hunting and shows Bits, Spurs and Stirrups; Buckles, Terrets, Hooks, Curb Chains and Specialties from August Buermann Mfg. Co. Has an Old West Trading Co. Mesa Road Colorado Springs sticker on the inside, likely from the very rare reprint edition. Next is titled “Kelly’s Hand Forged Bits, Spurs and Other Stockmen’s Supplies Kelly Bros., MFRS. 511-521 N. Cotton Avenue El Paso, Texas, U.S.A.” and is an Old West Trading Company 1996 published edition. Both the August Buermann and Kelly Bros. catalogs show hundreds of the different spurs and bits from the original catalogs.
