Featured in this lot we have a Rodman Wanamaker photogravure titled "Buffalo Thundered Across the Plains" originating from 1913. Rodman Wanamaker (February 13, 1863 – March 9, 1928) began an expedition to capture the life of the "Vanishing Race" which resulted in the publishing of his "Expedition of Citizenship." This book is a very rare piece and took place in 1913. For it, the American flag was carried to many tribes, and their members were invited to sign a declaration of allegiance to the United States. The photo depicts a herd of buffalo with a cowboy off to the side with mountains rising in the background. The bottom of the piece is marked "By Rodman Wanamaker 1913" on the left side and the other side marked "Buffalo Thundered Across The Plains". The piece is set into a wooden and gilt gold frame with a tan border around the photo. The piece shows good condition overall with some light wear across the frame. The frame measures 17 3/4" wide by 14 3/4" tall with the photogravure measuring 8" wide by 5 1/2" tall.
