This is an excellent Crow polychrome painted parfleche envelope dating to circa 1870 from the Bruce VanLandingham Sundog collection. The piece shows a parfleche rawhide construction with wonderful geometric polychrome mineral pigment painted design over all sides and the flap. The bag is made from one piece of parfleche foled over and sewn with Indian tanned hide with a strip of old red stroud wool trade clothe. The bag has a nice size and shows the correct patina, scraped finish and colors for its authentic Indian Wars era circa 1870 age.
