The lot features a polychrome painted child's bow from the Plains of the circa 1870's from the ex-Ken Canfield of Canfield Gallery, Larry Williams and Mark Kokin Sherwoods Spirit of America. The piece exhibits a carved wood bow that is covered in mineral pigment painted surface showing yellow and black ocher / ochre. The bow shows a carved gripping area with knock notched ends. The paint is still present, but is chipping and fading in areas. A beautiful child’s bow. Provenance: From the ex-collection of Ken Canfield (1941-2006), a renowned Santa Fe, New Mexico dealer who established Canfield Gallery in the 1980’s; ex-collection of Larry Williams and Mark Kokin of Sherwoods Spirit of America Santa Fe, N.M. Measures overall 20.75-inches long by 4.5-inches wide (box measurements).
