The lot features a fantastic parfleche tipi ornament of a Buffalo from the Blackfeet Native American Indians dating to circa 1880’s from the ex-collections of famed Montana artist Robert Scriver and Mitchell Kwiatkowski. The piece is comprised of a piece of parfleche rawhide remnant hand cutout into the shape of a Great American Bison Buffalo with a polychrome mineral pigment painted finish with a black, red and green coloring. The piece holds a museum collection tag which confirms the above info and a number of MK599.1. Provenance: From the ex-collection of Robert Scriver and Mitchel Kwiatkowski. Bob Scriver (1914-1999) was a famous Montana sculptor with a major Montana Blackfeet collection. Mitchell Kwiatkowski also had the other two pieces in this sale from Alfred Kroeber (1876-1960) whom he collected many things from. This is truly a unique effigy amulet piece that is well preserved.
