This is a late 19th early Indian Reservation period Sioux catlinite pipestone pipe with wood stem. The pipe bowl is hand carved from Red Minnesota “pipestone” catlinite in the typical “T” shape and has a nice red to speckled pink coloring. The bowl is accompanied with an ash wood stem showing hot file branded finish and measuring 12 inches in length. Smaller sets such as this were said to be used by the women. Provenance: Ex-collection of Tom Hardy, as well as a private collection of Native American artifacts from Concord, Massachusetts. Measures overall 15 inches long.*
