The lot features an original circa 1899-1901 Hamilton Rifle Company Number 7 wire frame swivel breech loading rifle in .22 caliber with a unique 8-inch barrel and 9-inch firing pin. The rifle only has a 10-inch long barrel which classifies it as a Short Barrel Rifle or SBR but is on the NFA Exception list. The skeleton frame or wire frame was made with castings, stampings with coil springs, and nickel plate finished. To load the rifle, the barrel pivots to the left, or swivels open, at the frame or front junction exposing the chamber. The Hamilton No. 7 holds the current record for the longest firing pin on a shoulder fired rifle at 9-inches long. This rifle was produced by Hamilton Rifle Company from circa 1899-1901 with a total of 44,700 manufacted of which Mr. Ringbauer, the foremost Hamilton Rifle Historian, Author and Collector estimates 99.9 percent have been destroyed or lost. The rifle is stamped on the left side of the wood stock "(Hamilton) Rifle Co. Ct. Plymouth, Mich. N9U PAT. PEND'G .22 Cal." Chambered in .22 caliber, n obsolete round. The rifle appears to function with the barrel swiveling out, it is chambered by pulling back the knurled metal round piece which clicks into place and is released by the pulling of the trigger. Total length of 30.75-inches and barrel length of 8-inches.
