The lot features an original rare Zia Pueblo Native American Indian pottery olla bowl from the ex-collection of an early Convent Library. The bowl is marked by the previous museum collection on the base "ZIA BOWL" on a type writer marked tag as well as a stamped tag marked "ST. CATHERINES LIBRARY ST. ELIZABETHS CONVENT CORNWELLS HEIGHTS __" the convent colleciton stamp is on the inside of the bowl direct as well. St. Elizabeth's Convent is a historic Roman Catholic convent located in Cornwells Heights Pennsylvania and was founded in 1892. It previoulsy held the Saint Katherine (Catherine) Shrine which was later moved. The piece was presumable sold from the collection many years ago. Zia Pueblo Indian pottery pieces are scarce escpecially in such large and well kept examples such as this. The piece shows a nice tall olla bowl with slightly rolled in rim. The entire piece is covered in polychrome geometric painted floral pattern in colors of cream / white, black and red. Truly a fantastic bowl with early age being well kept with no obvious signs of major damage, cracks, chips and well kept paint that displays beautifully. Zia pieces of this early age have sold at auction regularly for as high as $8,500. Measures 7.5" diameter by 5.5"H.
