The lot features a beautifully beaded Indian hide parfleche lined knife sheath and knife originating from the Plains Indians dating to the circa 1920-1930's. The sheath is covered in Indian tanned buckskin hide which covers a parfleche rawhide inside lining. The hide has a green mineral pigment coloring and the front is covered in glass trade seed bead beadwork with a classic early Plains geometric designs. The beadwork is sinew sewn with period glass trade seed beads including colors of greasy light blue, chalk white and red. The outside edge has Indian tanned buckskin hide fringes and a small belt strap. The knife is a classic early 1900's skinning knife with nice coloring and two piece wood grips that are wrapped in thick trade twine string. Provenance: From an excellent Western and Native American private Idaho collection. Sheath is 9-inches long by 2 5/8-inches wide without the fringes and 18-inches long with. The knife is 10.5-inches long.
