For your consideration is a pair of Western Cowboy Spaghetti Fringe Shotgun Leather Chaps circa 1970s. The “shotgun” chaps, also called “stovepipes”, were originally created to be loose fitting for comfort but today are commonly seen at horse shows as having a snug fit. These chaps do a better job of retaining body heat, which keeps the rider warm in chilly or windy weather. Chaps also make the ride more comfortable by providing protection against rope burns, animal injuries, and overall discomfort. Even the chaps' edge fringes have a function. These little strips of leather, which resemble a horse's feathers, aid in wicking water away from the chaps during heavy downpours. This pair of dark brown leather shotgun chaps are in nice overall condition, the leather is fairly supple, the zippers are heavy duty and move easily, and the belt and buckle are solid. All the stitching is intact and the back of the belt has a light brown leather patch stamped with, "Mike Miszler Saddlery / Maker Rocking MZ.". There is no visible damage present. The chaps measure an approximate waist size of 30" - 36" and a length of 37 1/2" with the width of the chaps measuring 10 1/4".
