Offered in this lot we have a Goodridge-call lumber co. C M Russell painting calendar from 1911. Charles Marion Russell, born March 19th, 1864 in St. Louis Missouri and died on October 24, 1926 in Great Falls Montana. Russell is known for his paintings of cowboys, Indians, and western landscapes, as well as crafting bronze sculptures. This piece shows the C M Russell painting "The Cinch Ring" depicting two cowboys trying unsuccessfully to brand a calf. Both the cowboys are in mid action, one reloading his rifle, the other is prone reaching for his pistol with a red hot brand in front of him near a small fire. The painting is framed with a off white border featuring dark gold lettering reading "compliments of Goodridge- Call Lumber Co. Retail Lumber" with a calendar below the painting showing the January Calendar, the top reading "1910 January 1910". The piece is in good condition overall with some spots of discoloration on the border and the calendar is missing its front cover. The piece overall measures 20" wide by 15" tall, the picture measures15" wide by 8 1/2" tall.
