Featured in this lot is this C.S. Fly "Heliographic Station 3" Imperial cabinet card circa 1886 at White's Ranch Signaling Bowie District System; Provenance: From the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum in Tombstone, Arizona. This cabinet card features a wonderfully and professionally crafted construction that shows a troop of observers at the Heliographic Station 3; Leo A.M. Fuller was the acting signal officer and this photograph was taken by Camillus "Buck" Sydney Fly and is suspected by historians and collectors alike to be the station set up at White's Ranch, Sulphur Springs Valley against Geronimo. Camillus "Buck" Sydney Fly (May 2, 1849 – October 12, 1901) was an Old West photographer who is regarded by some as an early photojournalist and who captured the only known images of Native Americans while they were still at war with the United States. He took many other pictures of life in the silver-mining boom town of Tombstone, Arizona, and the surrounding region. He recognized the value of his photographs to illustrate periodicals of the day and took his camera to the scenes of important events where he recorded them and resold pictures to editors nationwide. The cabinet card comes complete with a original museum tag that reads as follows: Heliographic Station 3 - Bowie Distr. Sys. - Leo A.M. Fuller, acting signal officer - S.S. Fly photographer. The condition of this C.S. Fly cabinet card is well preserved with no obvious signs of damage with slight browning to the card consistent with age but otherwise shows a well preserved condition. The measurements of this Imperial cabinet card is 5" x 8". P-36or P-68
