Featured in this lot is this 1597 edition published by Henrie Ballard but the original author being Gerard Leigh called "The Accedens of Armory. The book features a wonderfully and professionally crafted construction that shows woodcut architectural title-page, folding woodcut at the end and numerous illustrations of arms some full page engraved plates throughout, it has been recorded that the extraordinary folding woodcut at the end is "rare". ESTC records only two copies (Eton and Catholic University of America), but it is likely that far more copies do not have this leaf (the copy on EEBO - Trinity College, Cambridge), for example, does not have the plate. A rare book in a fine original full calf leather binding, gilt decorated spine with five raised bands and gilt lettering in the second compartment. A scarce and very rare publication, remarkable for its illustrations, first published in 1562 and reprinted in 1568, 1576, 1591, & 1597; it is of great rarity in first print. The condition of this book is well preserved for how old it is with discoloration to the leather wrapped cover and heavy browning to the pages consistent with a 16th century book but otherwise shows a well preserved overall condition. The measurements of this book is 7 5/8" x 5 3/8". The collective weight of this book is 12oz.
