For your consideration is this amazing Fur Trade Era circa 1780-1820s Native American clay Trade Pipe found December 23rd, 1928. The pipe comes from the Hoithliwaule Collection. During this era, pipes were being manufactured with better precision, a smoother finish, and a higher level of brittleness. The bowl's wall thinned, and the stem became increasingly slender. This clay pipe shows an egg white color and a large bowl for placing tobacco in. The stem is long and slender, a staple for this era of clay pipes. The very tip of the stem has broken into two pieces. Inside in the display case where the pipe sits is a small information card reading, "Trade Pipe from the Fur Trade Era CA1800 Ex: Hoithliwaule Collection Found in 12-23-28 #2263". On the stem of the pipe is a sticker reading, "Hoithliwaule. 12/23-28". The pipe shows good condition overall with wear present from its age and damage present on the tip of the stem, but no other signs of damage is noted. The pipe measures 7 1/4" in length with the bowl measuring a diameter of 7/8". The display box it is housed in measures 8 1/8" L x 14 3/4" W x 13/16" H. The display case and pipe have a collective weight of 1 pound and 4 ounces.
