This is a beautiful Late 19th Century Lakota Sioux pictorial fully beaded Indian hide sinew sewn purse from the ex-Morning Star Gallery Santa Fe, NM and Montana collections. The purse exhibits Indian tanned hide with antique 1800's H&B clasp purse covered on the entire outside including the front, back, sides, bottom and covering the handle with old glass trade seed beads that are sinew sewn. The beadwork shows a pictorial floral design and shwos a semi-transparent background with pattern in cobalt, Cheyenne pink, greasy pea green, semi-transparent Cheyenne pink, red white hearts and semi-transparent lilac. These late-1800's purses are wonderful representations of early beadwork and current American styles overlapping. For example see the other Morning Star Gallery Santa Fe, NM flag pictorial purse that sold at Bonhams in 2023 for $2,048 (w/ bp). The purse shows little to no bead loss and displays beautifully.
