Featured in this lot is this trapper leather wrapped chest circa 1780 to 1850's. The chest features a wonderfully and professionally crafted wooden frame with leather wrapped exterior that shows brass tacks decoration with a leather handle on the top of the lid and shows a leather skirt that covers the base of the chest. The lid fits nicely of the base shelf to close the chest. The chest features a brass locking mechanism that isn't working properly. The condition of this trapper or fur trader chest is well preserved for its age with some fading and patina to the leather wrapped exterior with some holes cut into the skirt and fading to the side walling of the chest with the handle on top showing a significant break and a patina adorning the brass tacks. The measurements of this chest is 6 3/4" x 12 3/8" x 8 1/8". The collective weight of this chest is 3lb 14oz.
