Featured in this lot is this Plains Indians beaded and quilled pipe bag circa 1870-1880, ex-Bonhams Skinner Kornwolf, Seamon collection. The pipe bag features a wonderfully and professionally crafted Indian tanned hide construction that shows both beaded and quilled design that shows the neck seam beaded (which is unique). The trade seed bead coloration that includes: Chalk White, Medium Blue, Red White Heart, Medium Green, and Greasy Yellow. The quill work is outstanding with red and white ochre pigment coloration and a long Indian tanned hide fringe. The decoration to the beadwork shows a Plains Indian central geometric medallion on both sides of the pipe bag. The condition of this Plains Indians pipe bag is well preserved with some missing quillwork and a slight patina to the Indian tanned hide and parts of the fringe showing tears.
