Featured in this lot is this Seth Thomas Co. Pima County Bank check circa 1880 and was displayed in the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum; Provenance: From the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum in Tombstone, Arizona. The check features a signature from Seth Thomas Clock Co. and the Clerk at the Pima County Bank in tombstone (which is over stamped to reflect) for fifty dollars presumably for an iconic Seth Thomas clock. By 1880, the Seth Thomas Clock Company was a well-established American manufacturer known for producing high-quality clocks and regulators used in homes, offices, and public buildings across the country. In Tombstone, Arizona, during its silver boom years, Seth Thomas clocks were commonly found in businesses and government offices, prized for their reliability and precision. Their presence reflected the town’s rapid growth and desire for modern amenities in the remote frontier. The check comes with an original museum tag that reads as follows: 1880 Tombstone Check made out to the Seth Thomas Clock Co.. The condition of this Pima County check is is well preserved with no obvious signs of damage with some browning to the check consistent with its age but otherwise shows a well preserved condition. The measurements of this check is 3 3/8" x 8. C-8
